I had mentioned this...

Post by Sephraem » Fri Jul 28, 2017 10:59 pm

...I think when Del was around on 105, but I saw it happened on 106 while I was putzing around with my alt. She's under 50, the safety is on, and she still took a swipe at an NPC Faction member and said faction member started hitting mine.

It is not inherently a bug, as the soldiers are still just normal monsters. Though it might make more sense to have them not be attackable under some conditions. Safety being on might be the only one really needed as there could be times you want to fight them even while under 50hp (as they can potentially drop any of their gear as loot so you can get helmets and gauntlets ect from them)

I was figuring with the safety on that said npcs weren't attackable, also with the message that ends with "Good thing you had the safety on" or something along those lines. That never showed up, which normally does when stupid NPCs have a suicidal desire to walk in front of my weapon of choice. Eh, she's only got about 10 hp left before they stop being good Samaritans and stop helping.

That only occurs if you are a member of the same faction

I guess we might want to have safety cover that case as well (unfactioned trying to attack soldier).

The issue doesn't pop up all that often because it is highly advisable to use targeting (colored outline around enemies) to make sure you are attacking the right target. Especially if you want to weave spell casts into your combat, targeting it the definite way to go. I believe the default key for that is TAB in both clients, but you can change that setting to whatever key you like. :)

Can't we just say that the NPCs are suicidal?

It's not normally a problem, its just sometimes the soldiers walk into the path of the swinging weapon, as if blinded by berserker-like bloodlust. But I'll try targeting and see if that stops the insanity. It should but, what fun is there when there's no craziness at all.
